BARONESS

I was in Chinatown this morning looking for obscure Chinese pacers from all those fucked up stationary shops. I saw this old asian lady with this cool outfit so I decided to draw it, reminds me of something my mum would wear.

Errands

Did two awesome things yesterday:

Got an amaze haircut with Ashleigh at Meme in Paddington, tucked away behind the Post Office on the corner of Oxford St and Ormond St.
1 Begg Lane Paddington
9380-6363

Had an amaze burger from Grill’d where I did interiors with the hell-awesome Jumbo and Chris Wahl. I did more images but I think they’ll be at the other joints.

BLARGH

This is what sharing a studio with designers looks like, less artist, more Dexter Morgan.

ANGIE WANG

I’ve been approaching my work like images from an editorial lately, thinking a lot about style and costume etc. I was delighted to find another artist who did the same! This is my favourite artist right now! I’ve been trying to contact her through facebook but I think she thinks I’m a stalker.

This is her site.
This is her blog.
This is her side-project where she draws outfits with clothes that exist and that don’t exist. It is like looking through a stylist’s sketchbook diary.

I am excited by this!

Alternatives to Screenprinting

Screenprinting is a bitch, anyone who has ever done it knows what I mean. I look at my old work and all I see is endless hours of damp toiling till the wee hours. I get a lot of questions from people about screenprinting and where to screenprint in Sydney, sometimes I wonder if screenprinting really is the way.

Recently I’ve discovered some alternatives to screenprinting based in Sydney. I’m working on making two large format zines right now (hopefully by the end of the year) and I’ll want some pretty decent printing for cheap.

THE RZA aka The Rizzeria Printer aka a Riso RP3700 Printer, St Peters
Can do massive runs for cheap, perfect for flyers and posters and CD covers, prints on a variety of stocks.
Prints stuff like this:

The Big Fag Press aka a Fagette Duplicator aka an offset-lithographic proofing press, Woolloomooloo
Can print up to B1 size!

Yudu Home Printing Set
Brynn from Beef Knucklesmentioned a gizmo called a Yudu, which isn’t so much an alternatve to screenprinting but rather a print goko set on steroids. If you check out the video tutorials, even a mum can use it, so it has to be pretty easy.

One Off T Shirts for $35
Bennett Wong told me about this. I am imagining many practical applications. Saves you having to pay for having a screen burnt, then printing enough shirts to make it worth the cost, etc, especially if you just want to print some image you stole off the internet like a bastard.

Hank St John

This blog is just becoming a rip of Meathaus, so much awesome shit on there 24/7

Like this dude. I don’t know if Hank St John t is his actual name though. Etchings and Micron Pen work, gotta give respect to printmakers, they are a dying breed, shit doesn’t happen overnight.
