It’s Not For Lack of Trying Boss The Art Blog Of Jirat James Patradoon

Who Sent You?

I turned 24 the other day and I think I’m far enough into my life to know which doors should be left open and which doors I could probably close – one of those closing doors is working in an office doing office shit and looking civil – and so with that door shut I can finally get some tattoos on my arms like I always wanted.

I don’t really want to overthink it, but then again I don’t want to regret it. I’ve always wanted Malevich’s Black Square tattooed on my wrist but that would just end up looking like a wierd birthmark. My friend Roger suggested getting an artist that I really like and wouldn’t change my feelings about – and Durer immediately came to mind – the image of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, or of Satan from Paradise Lost.  I’ll have to sit on that for a while.

Anyway, the point is that I just found an old post on killer blog Degourget about comic book inspired tats – I’ve never considered them before because I thought they’d just be cheesy but the examples shown are  pretty rad, and I DO relate a lot of things to epic moments in comics, like Magneto ripping out Wolverine’s adamantium, or the conversation between Tim Drake and Jean Paul Valley before Jean Paul builds the new batsuit, or when Jason Todd gets blown up. So anyways check out this post.

via Degourget obviously.

Durer and his four horsemen — now that’s great art. My best friend has a few Gustave Dore woodcuts on his body… those turned out amazing.

Loving the blog. Sawatdee.
